VOIS - Vascular Oximetry Imaging Systems//

The Vascular Oximetry Imaging System (VOIS) is a hybrid NIRS device combining two imaging modalities, diffuse optical spectrometry (DOS) to measure tissue oxygenation (amount) and diffuse correlation spectrometry (DCS) to measure microvascular blood flow (rate of oxygen delivery), making it the only system to quantify both parameters simultaneously, continuously and non-invasively.

The blood flow rate characteristics are measured as a function of light fluctuations caused by the tissue, while the oxygenation characteristics are measured as a function of transmission of light through the tissue with respect to the wavelength of light.

Although other devices measure oxygenation, the additional parameter of blood flow can demonstrate why there may be a low oxygenation value (e.g. a blockage versus anemia or lung disease). Blood flow offers an accurate assessment of tissue health because it provides an indirect quantification of anatomical disease whereas oxygenation provides measure of skeletal muscle performance.

A patent protects our propietary NIRS hybrid technology and is licensed exclusively to Flox Medical. Our strategy is to grow our competitive edge by continually growing our IP portfolio and ensuring a strong IP position.

The development of a simple to use, accurate, cost-effective means to diagnose and monitor tissue health could significantly reduce the difficulties of disease management and improved outcomes leading to substantial health benefits and cost reductions.
